The Instigation In the midst of the SEC Championship game, an unwanted brawl between the number 1 South Carolina Gamecocks and the number 2 LSU Tigers broke out. South Carolina's Milaysia Fulwiley had stolen the ball from LSU point guard, Hailey Van Lith. LSU then decided to foul Fulwiley to prevent her from getting an easy bucket. After this foul, Fulwiley and her teammate celebrated, accidentally running into one of LSU's players, Flaujee Johnson. Johnson was angry at this bump, so she pushed one of South Carolina's players as she was heading back to the bench. This in fumed Kamilla Cardoso, the post for the Gamecocks, as she then pushed Flaujee straight to the ground, as all chaos broke loose. Both of the team's benches rose towards the fight, either trying to stop it or to instigate more.  Change in Momentum The North Carolina Tarheels took advantage and celebrated the program's first Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title in seven years on the homecourt of their brutal rival, the Duke Blue Devils. After the prestigious win, the Tarheels gathered midcourt near the "Cameron Crazies" section and waved goodbye in a taunting fashion. They were only just answered by several people throwing water bottles and empty bottles at them in anger. The Tarheels figured that this didn't matter as after their 84-79 win, they secured the top seed in the ACC tournament and a season sweep of their rivals.  Record-Breaking Stats Victor Wembanyama, rookie star player for the San-Antonio Spurs, made history of Friday afternoon, joining a private club by posting a 5x5 stat line. The young French player took over the box score during his defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers, as he finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks, just in 31 minutes. He now just recently became the 15th player to log a 5x5 stat line, which is when players record at least 5 points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks in a single game. Wembanyama was the youngest ever to achieve this milestone.  The Investigation One is dead, and 21 others were injured by gunfire at the end of the Chiefs' Superbowl Parade. During a press conference later that evening, it is now known that three people have been detained and are under investigation. Of the 21 people who were wounded, 8 of them were in severe life-threatening conditions.  Stacy Graves, one of the police chiefs on this case states, "I'm angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment." The Kansas City Radio station later announced that one of its DJs, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, died in the shooting.  Anticipation On January 21, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs took down the Buffalo Bills, defying all odds. In the previous month, the Chiefs took a devasting loss to this same franchise, as this time, they held on. Bills kicker, Tyler Bass, missed a 44 yard field goal with 1:43 remaining in the game. The Chiefs' Isiah Pacheo took this momentum and scored a 5 yard touchdown in less than a minute, sealing the winning score at 27-24. The Bills had seemed to put themselves in a position to tie the game, but luck wasn't on Bass's side that night.
